Hrobčice – Hrobčice in Teplice have halted the reconstruction of the Renaissance fortress from the 16th century. The repair was accompanied by a number of problems, archaeological finds were discovered on the site, groundwater complicated the construction, and the municipality would also not have enough funds due to rising construction material prices. The municipality received a grant for the investment of more than 20 million crowns without VAT and should cover about half from its own budget. Mayor Jana Syslová said this to ČTK today.

Another monument is being repaired by the local government in the district of Mirošovice, and the reconstruction of the castle is expected to be completed next year. The planned law office or social services, which were to be located in the fortress, could temporarily have their facilities in the castle, the mayor stated.

"We canceled the contract, or we are working on it because a number of circumstances have arisen that do not allow us to complete the construction," Syslová stated. The biggest problem is the heritage finds, which were not accounted for in the project documentation. "They are not included in the bill of quantities, so we do not have allocated funds for them, and restoration work is quite financially demanding," the mayor added. According to her, the company demanded more money from the municipality due to the rise in construction material prices.

The investment was supposed to be completed this August, but Syslová indicated that under the current situation, the reconstruction would not be finished in time. "The conditions for the grant would not be met," she noted. However, the municipality does not have to return any money, as the grant would cover costs only after the completion of the construction work.

The town hall allocated about four million crowns from its budget this year for the repair of the roof and the historical gate. After the completion of partial works, the municipality intends to secure the building and later apply for a grant from the national recovery plan. It will also be necessary to update the project documentation and budget.

The local government is at least working on completing the castle in Mirošovice, where the installation of the roofing is currently underway. The overall reconstruction of the historical building is estimated to cost about 65 million crowns.
