The internal clinic in Zlín will start to be built in at least two years

Zlín - The Zlín Region will begin constructing a new building for the internal clinic at the T. Baťa Regional Hospital in Zlín no sooner than in 2012. The regional government expects to complete it two years after the construction starts. The project, estimated at over 879 million crowns, aims to replace the existing internal clinic building, which is in a critical condition. However, a prerequisite for construction is securing financing, said the regional councilor for health, Hana Příleská (ČSSD), to reporters today.
    "Renovating the internal clinic pavilion is not feasible while it is fully operational, and due to spatial reasons, the necessary development of internal specialties could not take place. In contrast, the construction of a new pavilion will enable this development," Příleská added.
    The new building plans to increase the capacity of the internal clinic by 28 beds, and the number of hemodialysis beds will rise from the existing 12 to 22. The facility will contribute to a significant development of the internal medicine and neurology department, including intensive care, most outpatient clinics, gastroenterology, and hemodialysis. The nine-story building will have one underground level and eight above-ground levels. There will be a helipad on the roof. The project also includes the relocation of water, sewage, and high and low voltage sources.
    The new internal clinic is set to be built on the site of the existing laundry. This will be demolished along with the building for charging batteries before the construction begins. "We are considering whether to build a new laundry as a necessary triggered investment or to outsource laundry services. Both options are currently possible," Příleská told ČTK today.
    The internal clinic is the largest inpatient department of the T. Baťa Regional Hospital. It has 171 beds, including 20 intensive care beds. It serves as the primary internal department for the entire Zlín area. In some specialties, it provides specialized and superspecialized care for patients from across the Zlín Region and, in selected cases, from its broader surroundings.
