Jesenice - Jesenice near Prague could open a new elementary school for 540 children in the local part of Zdiměřice in September 2020. The city received notification from the Ministry of Education on Wednesday about the registration of the project. It should therefore receive a grant of 221 million crowns from the state budget, said Zuzana Mojžíšková from the Jesenice town hall today. According to earlier information, the estimated costs for building the complex are 488 million crowns, and the city is taking out a loan for the project.

According to Mojžíšková, a call for tender for a construction company can already be announced. If everything goes smoothly, construction will begin in the spring of next year. Preparatory work has already started this spring, which includes laying engineering networks and adjusting the intersection.

The new elementary school is intended to solve the problem of the lack of places for Jesenice schoolchildren. In recent years, the city has opened two detached workplaces, and the current school on U Rybníka Street is filled to capacity.

Jesenice has around 9,000 permanently registered inhabitants and in recent years, many new houses have been built in the city. The problem of insufficient school capacity is also being addressed by other town halls in the vicinity of Prague. Other towns included in the same investment program as Jesenice are Rudná, Psáry, Čelákovice, and Říčany.
