Brno - The South Moravian Region is preparing a reconstruction and modernization of the neurology and ear, nose, and throat (ENT) department at Vyškov Hospital for 105 million crowns. The region's spokesperson Monika Brindzáková informed journalists about this today. The reconstruction has been discussed for several years, and the region initially planned to fund it with a grant from the state, but that has ultimately fallen through, and it will be paid from its own budget.

The reconstruction of the department was already mentioned in 2016 by then Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka (ČSSD) during a visit to South Moravia. "The original idea was that this reconstruction would be partially financed by a grant from the Ministry of Health. However, the ministry did not include it among its priorities. Although this plan did not materialize, the region decided to find financing for the modernization in its own budget," said the deputy governor Taťána Malá (ANO).

According to her, the goal is for the spaces for specialized outpatient and inpatient care to meet current European standards and trends and to satisfy the requirements for a modern healthcare facility.

The work will affect the inpatient neurology departments on the second and third floors of building B and will also include moving the rehabilitation center from building C to building B to the first floor and part of the ground floor. "This will lead to the concentration of all departments of the stroke center, making it possible to optimize the logistics of patient admission and transport," stated Brindzáková.

The ENT department will move from building B to the third floor of building C. Staff will be able to use the modern facilities of the operating room of the gynecological-obstetrical department for their procedures. New outdoor technical infrastructure networks will be created, and outdoor areas will also be adjusted.
