Liberec - A label with the donor's name will be placed on a replica of the original chair in the lounge on Ještěd for anyone willing to pay for its production. Purchasing one chair costs 24,000 crowns. Milena Lánská from the civic association Ještěd 73 told journalists today. They plan to open the reconstructed original lounge in September to mark the 40th anniversary of the opening of Ještěd.

The first replica of the original chair made of white leatherette and stainless steel returned to Ještěd today. The original designer of the furniture from the 1970s, architect Otakar Binar, was also present. "It looks good," he appreciated.
No one knows today what happened to the original chairs. Currently, there are metal chairs with brown upholstery in the lounge, the original black table is completely covered with a white tablecloth, the floor has a faded red carpet, and the walls are a dull gray. By September, the lounge should look better. There will be 12 white leather chairs to create a contrast with the repaired table, which will have a black ribbed top with an imitation of ebony and edging made of natural ash. "There will be an orange English-style table setting here," hinted hotel operator Petr Šmaus. A restored tapestry by Vladimír Křečan will also return to the wall.
The first phase of the restoration will cost about 350,000 crowns. Czech Radiocommunications and the Liberec Region each contributed 100,000, and the remainder will be covered by the hotel and restaurant operator. However, voluntary donors can also contribute to the lounge's restoration. "Since July we have had a permit for the collection and the account number is 259 826 549/0300," Lánská pointed out.
According to Šmaus, they want to increase the number of chairs to 18 in the next phase of restoration, just as it was in the past. The new carpet and leatherette wall coverings will also be in the original olive green color. "I had such leatherette in my Octavia back then," reminisced eighty-two-year-old Binar.
The hotel and transmitter is one of the most original architectural works in the Czech Republic. The unique building, for which Karel Hubáček received the prestigious international Perret Award, has been a national cultural monument since 2006, and people voted it the Czech building of the century. Since 2000, Czech Radiocommunications has owned the mountain hotel and transmitter, which they acquired for 85 million crowns. Approximately 50 million crowns have been invested in repairs since then.
