Karlovy Vary - In the area behind the KV Arena, Karlovy Vary is preparing two new sports facilities. Alongside the already under-construction indoor sports hall, an outdoor swimming pool is also set to be created by next year. The total investment amounts to approximately 150 million crowns. The hall will cost 118 million, while the pool is projected at 31 million crowns, spokesperson for the city hall Helena Kyselá informed CTK today. The hall for ball sports and the future pool are part of a large Integrated City Development Plan, which is funded by the Regional Operational Programme Northwest. The hall will be built south of the KV Arena in the southwestern corner of the developing area adjacent to the swimming pool, which it also urbanistically connects with and creates a unified line. The field, measuring 48 by 30 meters and ten meters high, will allow for competitive matches in virtually all indoor ball sports. It will have facilities for 560 spectators. Even before it is completed, work will begin on the pool next to it. "We anticipate that a winner of the competition for the public contract could be known in the first half of October this year, and a contract for work should be signed with the contractor in early November. The completion date for the building has been set for June 30, 2015," said Kyselá. The pool will be made of stainless steel, it will have a rectangular shape with basic dimensions of 25 by 15.4 meters, and it will be functionally divided into a swimming area, a relaxation area, and a children's wading pool. The relaxation area of the pool will include a slide with access from the tiled balcony of the pool. The children's wading pool will have a fiberglass slide as well.
