Prague - Over 12,000 comments were submitted by people regarding the concept of the new territorial plan for Prague. Jitka Cvetlerová, the director of the Department of Urban Planning, mentioned this at the last meeting of the Urban Development Committee. The Prague City Hall is gradually recording the suggestions sent by the public until early December. However, the process is not yet complete.

“We have recorded 12,000 suggestions from about 7,000 applicants. This means that under some applicants, there are 100 or even 500 comments,” said Cvetlerová. The director hopes that everything will be documented and mapped out within a month so that the suggestions can begin to be sorted and evaluated. City councilors may discuss the comments in the autumn. “I would be pleased if this council approved the concept,” Cvetlerová remarked, referring to the autumn elections. After the concept, a definitive draft of the territorial plan will be prepared.
The comments highlight, among other things, several long-term disputed locations and plans. This includes the case of the Klánovice golf course, the Prague ring road through Suchdol, the connection of the Prague ring road in Běchovice, parallel runways at the Václav Havel Airport, the planned expansion of the Ďáblice landfill, or the discussed developments in Roztyly and Trojmezí.
The new territorial plan is expected to address the city’s development over the next 15 years and will likely be in effect starting from 2012. It should bring several changes. Compared to the current plan, there will be a new height and spatial regulation intended to ensure that new buildings do not exceed reasonable capacity and height in relation to their surroundings.
The plan also accounts for a new Metro line D and the development of tram and railway lines. It includes the construction of city and Prague ring roads, the expansion of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, or the tunnel connection between Masaryk and Smíchov stations. However, it will also permit some controversial projects, such as the construction of a cable car to Dívčí hrady.
