BB Centrum has another addition. This time, however, it is not a new building, but a so-called KnihoBudka. The new public library, created from an old phone booth, was ceremoniously opened in Baar's Park. People can borrow, exchange, or simply dive into books for free while relaxing or waiting in the park or one of the local cafes and restaurants.
Visitors to Baar's Park, tenants of BB Centrum, and the general public can discover lost books from their youth or childhood, get to know new authors, or simply pass on books that are gathering dust at home thanks to the KnihoBudka. The KnihoBudka has simple "non-rules," meaning books can be freely brought and taken by visitors without checking. “We believe that people know how to behave. What is right and what is not, so we are not worried about the fate of the booth and the books,” adds Monika Serbusová, co-author of the KnihoBudka project.
“We are happy to support good ideas, and we consider KnihoBudka to be an excellent connection of the effort to find a new and interesting service for BB Centrum and the general public while also supporting a positive relationship with literature. KnihoBudka fits perfectly into Baar's Park, and books will be easily accessible to everyone,” praises the idea of utilizing the phone booth Vendula Malochová, marketing manager of PASSERINVEST GROUP.
“We are glad that we could open the eleventh KnihoBudka right in a place like Baar's Park in BB Centrum. I think it is one of the most beautiful places where we have ever installed a KnihoBudka. The collaboration with the PASSERINVEST GROUP team, who were helpful in the implementation, was also pleasant. We hope it will serve everyone well,” adds Pavel Železný, co-author of the KnihoBudka project.
KnihoBudka is a non-profit project that originated in 2013 with the support of Telefónica O2's “Think Big” program. Since then, the KnihoBudka team has transformed 11 old phone booths and inspired other enthusiasts to create several public libraries across the Czech Republic that enliven public spaces.
