Kopřivnice (Novojičínsko) - The town of Kopřivnice is demolishing the remains of the former Tatra car museum in Edvard Beneš Park. The site will become part of a leisure area with a playground in the future. The costs of regenerating the area will exceed 4.5 million crowns, with 85 percent covered by European subsidies. This was stated by city hall spokesperson Lucie Petříčková.

The aim of the project is to prepare the land for new uses. "The area of the former depot and storage of the Technical Museum Tatra is largely covered with paved surfaces and dilapidated buildings, the technical condition of which does not allow for reconstruction or other uses," the spokesperson stated.
The largest part of the area was previously occupied by a two-story exhibition building. In 2004, it collapsed under the weight of snow. "The debris was removed, but the foundations were left in the ground and covered with soil. The regeneration of the brownfield includes the removal of the remains of the former exhibition pavilion, demolition of the former workshop and storage building, landscaping, grassing the area, and preparing the land for future use," Petříčková said.
Construction work in the park will last approximately two months. Kopřivnice is already planning what to do with this busy location in the center of the city in the future. "The city has already prepared follow-up projects that consider, for example, the construction of a central children's playground in this area, however, their implementation will depend on the financial possibilities of the city budget. Until then, the regenerated area will serve as a municipal park," the spokesperson said.
