The region is preparing modifications to Pionýrská Meadow in Kroměříž, new sports facilities will be there

Kroměříž - The Zlín Region is preparing the restoration of Pionýrská louka in Kroměříž, which it owns. The meadow is in close proximity to the Podzámecká zahrada. The regional government intends to build sports facilities and a building with amenities there. This will be available for students and teachers of the Kroměříž Secondary School of Hotels and Services established by the region, as well as for athletes and the public. Jan Vandík from the regional communication and external relations department stated this in a press release today.

The regional councilors approved the plan. "The estimated total costs of the first phase of the restoration will reach 42 million crowns. The main investor will be the Zlín Region. We are basing this on a study for the restoration of Pionýrská louka, which was commissioned by the city of Kroměříž. The city will also participate financially in the whole project. To what extent will be determined by our further joint discussions," said Governor Radim Holiš (ANO).

The Kroměříž councilors approved a cooperation agreement for the preparation of a study for the reconstruction of the area with the Zlín Region and with the architect last year. "We strive to ensure that the area can be put into a usable state so that it can again serve the citizens of our city in a full-fledged manner," said Mayor Tomáš Opatrný (ANO) at that time.

In the Pionýrská louka area, the region plans to demolish several structures and areas that are in unsatisfactory condition. "Subsequently, we will build a new field for floorball, a multifunctional court for volleyball and footvolley, and possibly badminton. A new support building will also be constructed, which will include a small refreshment facility and public accessible restrooms. Necessary adjustments to utility networks and landscaping will also be carried out," said the regional councilor for education and culture Zuzana Fišerová (Pirates).

This year, the regional government plans to prepare project documentation for the sports facilities. "The actual construction work is planned for next year," added the regional councilor for investments Zbyněk Fojtíček (ODS). The entire area of Pionýrská louka is declared a cultural monument. It is part of the Podzámecká zahrada, which is a monument listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
