PARDUBICE - The building of the Regional Court in Pardubice will rise in the area of the former heating plant between Arnošt z Pardubic Street and the so-called rapid transit line. This was agreed upon today by representatives of the Pardubice City Hall, Pardubice Region, the Ministry of Justice, and the Regional Court of Hradec Králové. The city and the region will purchase the land, while the actual construction of the regional judiciary's headquarters will be the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice.

"It has been shown that building the regional court in the facilities of the heating plant is the fastest and cheapest option," said the Mayor of Pardubice Jiří Stříteský after the meeting.
According to regional spokesperson Kateřina Nohavová, the land is owned by International Power Opatovice nad Labem. Both self-governments still need to agree on how they will share the costs of its purchase. The city has previously announced that it is willing to invest ten million Czech crowns from its budget.
"Both the city and the region came up with a truly generous offer, and their approach allowed this matter to be resolved. The decision to use the heating plant location is final; we will direct further efforts there," said Milan Špryňar, who is in charge of the Pardubice branch of the Regional Court, to ČTK.
He estimates that design work could begin in the second half of this year. "In addition to the regional court, the building should also house the regional prosecutor's office, and if funding allows, then part of the agendas of the District Court in Pardubice as well," added Špryňar. According to him, the Ministry of Justice has allocated approximately 320 million Czech crowns for construction.
Pardubice and the Pardubice Region had long struggled to find a suitable location for constructing the regional court. Options included expanding the district court on Na Třísle Street or utilizing the neighboring secondary school, the building of the Faculty of Chemical Technology at Čs. Legií Square, former barracks, or the area near Dašická Street. However, none of these locations were deemed suitable by representatives of the judiciary.
