Krnov City Hall continues the modernization of Cinema Mír

Krnov - The city hall in Krnov, Bruntál region, continues to modernize the Cinema Mír. After the replacement of the projection technology and sound system, the addition of new restrooms is also expected in the near future. Additionally, a replacement of the roofing is planned. The city spokesperson Dita Círová stated this to ČTK today. Cinema Mír in Krnov is one of the few European cinemas that allows projection in the so-called royal film format, which consists of a 70-millimeter film strip. This technology will be preserved even after the reconstruction.

The project for the restroom renovations, which no longer meet current standards, includes a new layout, the construction of partitions, and the installation of drywall ceilings. It will also involve the replacement of tiles and wall coverings, as well as doors and windows. "New heating, water, air conditioning, and electrical installations will also be included," she added.

Cinema manager Pavel Tomešek said that the addition with social facilities was created in the early 1990s. "If everything goes according to plan, the new social facilities will be completed in the summer. Originally, the repairs were to take place during the summer holidays; however, due to the epidemic situation and the closure of the cinema, we have proceeded with the reconstruction now," added Karel Klímek from the investment department.

Intensive work was also carried out in the cinema hall last year. So far, the city has invested four million crowns, among other things, in the replacement of the sound system. The cinema now features modern surround sound. "The supplier had to deal with our main requirement, which was to integrate the new sound system while maintaining the operation of the 70-millimeter film projection technology," explained Tomešek. He added that this system is currently installed in only twenty cinemas in the Czech Republic, with two of them located in the region, including the one in Krnov.
