Kutná Hora - Kutná Hora aims to obtain a building permit by the end of the year for the construction of a new municipal library. Whether the construction will begin in 2015 will depend on whether the city can secure the necessary funding. Costs are estimated at 60 to 80 million crowns, said Deputy Mayor Jiří Franc (Chance for Kutná Hora) to reporters today. The current facilities on Husova Street are not sufficient in capacity, so the city hall wants to renovate the unused building of the former J. A. Komenský primary school on Na Náměti Street for the needs of readers. Two studies have been prepared for the project so far, and the councilors have recently approved the preparation of documentation for the building permit. It will cost 1.2 million crowns, and the documentation should be completed within four months. Then the building permit will be processed. "So there is an assumption that by the end of 2014, the city of Kutná Hora could have a building permit for the reconstruction of the building," Franc stated. When construction will begin is still a question, as it will mainly depend on finances. The city is trying to secure a subsidy for the project. "We would all probably be happy if construction started in 2015, but it is a matter of money," the deputy mayor noted. According to current estimates, the reconstruction will require 60 to 80 million crowns. "Usually, the higher amount comes out. But until the documentation for the building permit is ready, it is just guessing from a crystal ball," Franc added. Originally, the city hall wanted to place the library in a new building that would be created near the bus station. The construction would cost 150 million crowns. The city already had a completed project, but ultimately those plans were abandoned, and the city hall decided to place the library in one of the unused buildings. The exterior of the neo-Renaissance building should not be affected by the reconstruction; the main focus of the work will be on the interiors. A conference hall, reception, and café will be created on the ground floor, with sections for adults and children on the first two floors, and administrative facilities in the attic.
