Brno - People in Brno will have a unique opportunity to visit the illuminated exhibition grounds at night. The complex, featuring a number of architectural gems, will be opened by the Brno Trade Fairs for one day due to its 80th anniversary. The celebration program on Saturday, May 24, will also include special exhibitions, a fireworks display, and rides on historic buses and steam trams.
The Brno exhibition center was opened on May 26, 1928, by the Exhibition of Contemporary Culture of Czechoslovakia. Since then, it has been visited by tens of millions of people, with an annual attendance of about one million in recent years.
The Brno Trade Fairs want to celebrate the anniversary both on land and in the air. During the day, dozens of hot air balloons will rise above the exhibition grounds, and selected guests will participate in the first mass night launch of hot air balloons in the Czech Republic, said Jiří Palupa from the Brno Trade Fairs. However, most people will only be able to enjoy the view of the night exhibition grounds from the ground.
Unlike the aviators, they will be able to explore, for example, an exhibition about the history of the complex or a presentation describing the first Exhibition of Contemporary Culture in Czechoslovakia. In addition, the public can participate in a trade fair run and a number of other events. The celebrations are, among other things, part of the Brno - City in the Heart of Europe festival and the Brno Museum Night.
