Valašské Meziříčí (Vsetínsko) - Approximately a thousand residents of Valašské Meziříčí have petitioned the city leadership to cancel the contract with the investor who wanted to build a multifunctional center in the gap on Masaryk Square. The project, estimated at around 300 million crowns, was to include a supermarket, shops, office spaces, apartments, and a parking lot, and was supposed to be completed by mid-2005. However, the company CTP Invest has not started construction yet. The building permit process is suspended because the investor has not submitted all the necessary documents. This was communicated to CTK by the city hall spokesperson Josef Beneš.

At the beginning of this year, CTP Invest told CTK that they do not want to give up on the project in which they have already significantly invested. They claim that the delays were caused by factors that could not be influenced, such as inheritance proceedings.
The city acknowledged the petition. In it, residents further request that representatives no longer permit discussions about the construction of additional shopping centers in the town center.
Councilors are also demanding the termination of the contractual relationship with CTP Invest from the mayor. The reason is the continuous postponement of the start of construction and also the repeatedly modified plan. Most of them point out that the repeatedly modified project is poor and will complicate the already problematic traffic situation in the town center.
The multifunctional center is supposed to include a supermarket, shops, offices, apartments, and underground garages. In June 2001, the city signed several contracts with the developer, and construction was supposed to start in July 2002. The last deadline, the fifth in order, expired at the end of September 2005. The company previously stated that it aims to bring the project to a successful conclusion. It identified administrative delays as the main obstacle that repeatedly postpones construction.
The city and CTP Invest previously entered into three contracts. Of these, only the one regulating the conditions for leasing municipal land is still valid. If the city hall does not extend it and the investor does not complete construction in the meantime, its validity will also expire on June 30 of this year. Even after that, a stalemate situation is likely. A third of the land scattered throughout the gap belongs to the investor, who purchased it from private owners.
The company CTP was founded in 1996 by a group of Dutch developers and investors. The company focuses primarily on the construction of manufacturing, logistics, and office operations. In the Czech Republic, CTP operates seven industrial zones, such as in Brno, Humpolec, or Plzeň. It has also built administrative centers in Brno and Ostrava.
