Valašské Meziříčí

Valašské Meziříčí - Modifications to the square in Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region could start in two years. The roads, sidewalks, and paved areas will have a new surface, and a fountain, drinking fountain, and planted trees will also be added, spokesperson for the town hall Renata Votrubová announced today in a press release.

The revitalization of the square is estimated to cost about 42 million crowns including VAT. The square is part of the city conservation area, is 110 meters long, and approximately 60 meters wide. It was likely created in the second half of the 13th century.

"Currently, the project documentation for the issuance of the zoning decision is being prepared, which is now being reviewed by the department of urban planning and building regulations,"
stated the head of the public services department, David Černoch. Work could begin in 2020.

According to the project, the roads, sidewalks, and paved areas in the square will be paved with granite slabs and cobblestones. "There will be 35 parking spaces preserved out of the current 55. A new drinking fountain and a water feature with night LED lighting will be added. Eight connection points for sales stalls are planned in the square area. Eight trees will be planted in the central area of the square. The existing Christmas tree and all maples will be preserved," the spokesperson stated. Furniture will also be added.
