Valašské Meziříčí

Valašské Meziříčí - The square in Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region is set for reconstruction. It will become partially barrier-free, and new benches will invite people to sit down, said city hall spokesperson Renata Votrubová today. The costs are estimated at 38 million crowns, and the work is likely to start next year.

The planned changes to the square also take into account that regular farmers' markets and cultural events are held there. "Traffic and two statues, the Marian column and the statue of Saint Florian, should be preserved. The furniture will be changed, with new double-sided benches, bicycle stands, and information display cases added. The square will be illuminated by new LED lights," said the spokesperson.

"We have discussed the reconstruction of the square with all concerned parties, including the National Heritage Institute Kroměříž and the relevant departments of the city office," stated Deputy Mayor Yvona Wojaczková (ANO), who noted that the date for the start of the square's renovation is not yet known. "I expect that the actual implementation could take place next year," she added.

The city of 22,000 inhabitants is managing revenues of 409 million crowns and expenditures of 488 million crowns this year. The difference will be covered by balances in bank accounts. Nearly 142 million crowns are earmarked for investments, which is 28 million more than last year.
