Chrudim - The Chrudim City Hall has selected a new city architect. He will be Marek Janatka, who works at the Czech Technical University. He succeeds Karel Thér, who is also a city councilor. The mayor, Petr Řezníček (SNK-ED), told reporters today. The position of city architect is established in half of the larger towns in the Pardubice Region.
"We are changing the city architect after five years, not because his work was insufficient or bad, but we want to see if it’s possible to find a change," Řezníček said.
Janatka is primarily expected to participate in the completion of the land-use plan. An externally hired company has been working on it for three years for Chrudim, with which the city architect will collaborate. If there are no complications, the councilors are expected to approve the land-use plan this year.
The new architect will not be an employee of the office. According to the contract, he will work 60 hours per month, and he will be entitled to a reward of up to 200,000 crowns per year. The previous architect worked under the same conditions. Janatka will start on August 1.
About half of the municipalities with extended powers in the Pardubice Region permanently utilize the services of a city architect. The town halls pay him tens to hundreds of thousands of crowns annually for his work. Pardubice, Vysoké Mýto, Ústí nad Orlicí, Litomyšl, and since last year, Žamberk, have city architects.
