Mladá Boleslav - The Klaudián Hospital in Mladá Boleslav has completed the demolition of the old oncology pavilion, on the site of which builders will erect a new oncology pavilion for 120 million crowns. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new pavilion is scheduled for February 18, and it should be approved in September. This was stated today by the hospital spokesperson Kamila Hamáčková. Approximately 40 million crowns will be paid by European funds. In the new building, in addition to the oncology department, there will also be a nuclear medicine department and hemodialysis. "Patients with cancer who are already receiving treatment will come there. There will also be dialysis for patients with kidney problems and nuclear medicine, which refers to imaging methods," said Hamáčková. The nuclear medicine department had previously been located in the hospital's management building, but due to poor drainage, it was often flooded during heavy rains. "This department is specific; it requires a relatively large amount of shielding because radioactive substances are used there, so it needs to be prepared somewhat differently in construction than a usual department. Therefore, we will move it to the new oncology pavilion, where we can make those structural adjustments from the beginning," added Hamáčková. A new drug preparation unit for the treatment of cancer diseases has recently started operating at the Klaudián Hospital in Mladá Boleslav. The new facility is equipped with air conditioning and an isolator that allows employees to work in a sterile and safer environment. Drugs for the treatment of cancer diseases are toxic and carcinogenic.
