Mníšek pod Brdy (near Prague) - Mníšek pod Brdy near Prague is preparing to build a new pavilion for the elementary school, which will increase its capacity from 730 to 850 children. The building will have new classrooms, an after-school club, as well as cultural and social facilities for the town, replacing the current aging cultural center. Construction is expected to begin later this year, said Mayor Petr Digrin (STAN) to ČTK. "We currently estimate the costs at 85 million, so it will definitely be one of the largest investments in the town. The Ministry of Finance is subsidizing it with 44 million, and we have to cover the remaining part from our own funds. It looks like it will be a longer-term loan that the town will take out," the mayor stated. The construction of the pavilion is part of a larger three-year project to increase the capacity of the Mníšek school, for which the town has received a subsidy from the ministry. They have already renovated the spaces of the original school building for nine million crowns and converted some workshops into classrooms. They are now building a new gym for another 21 million crowns, and the rest of the subsidy will be used for the pavilion. The new gym should serve the children starting from the new school year. The Mníšek school will thus have two gyms available, in addition to the original one, a newly constructed steel arch hall measuring 19 by 35 meters. Of the costs of approximately 21 million crowns, the subsidy covered 12 million. Mníšek currently has over 5,500 permanently registered residents, but in reality, according to Digrin, nearly 7,000 people live in the town. The extensive construction in Mníšek has already ended, and the new zoning plan does not account for any larger area for construction.
