On Tyršovo Square in Nový Bor, there will be more trees and parking available

Nový Bor - In Tyršovo Square in Nový Bor in the Českolipsko region, more trees and parking spaces will be added. This follows from a study by the City Up-grade studio, commissioned by the city. The architects included the comments of local residents in the study. However, the implementation of the study will depend on the financial capabilities of the city. Radmila Pokorná, spokesperson for the Nový Bor city hall, told ČTK today.

Nový Bor is the fifth largest city in the Liberec Region, with a population of 12,000. For several years, efforts have been underway to restore the historical center. Changes have been made to the park in front of the city hall, Kalinova Street, and the area in front of the so-called Lužické Houses. The Míru Square has also been given a new look. Over the past few years, the city hall has invested approximately 70 million crowns in the revitalization of the center. According to Mayor Jaromír Dvořák (Mayors for the Liberec Region), the revitalization of Tyršovo Square should build on the restoration of the historical center.

Tyršovo Square and its surroundings are to be transformed into a place suitable for relaxation. The study includes not only the square itself but also B. Egermann Street from the roundabout to the intersection with General Svobody Street and Liberec Street from the roundabout to Vančurova Street. The study anticipates the planting of 30 trees. There should also be 31 parking spaces, which according to Pokorná should be ensured by a new parking lot near "Barumka."

The study also considers creating a relaxation area with water features near building "B" of the city office, and the area around the bakery at the roundabout is to receive a new look. The architects also proposed slowing down traffic using raised pedestrian crossings with various materials. "At this moment, it is just a study; its implementation and the final appearance of Tyršovo Square will depend on budgetary capabilities and especially on the positions and permits of the concerned authorities,” Dvořák added.
