Prague - The list of national cultural monuments is now wider by another 19 sacred buildings and complexes, including, for example, the pilgrimage complex with the Church of the Virgin Mary Victorious at Bílá Hora in Prague, the pilgrimage complex in Svatý Jan pod Skalou, or Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc. According to Jan Cieslar, spokesperson for the National Heritage Institute, the list now counts 338 monuments, of which 314 are immovable and 24 are movable.

National cultural monuments are the most significant part of the country's cultural wealth, and they are subject to stricter protection than cultural monuments, of which there are also many more. Similar to cultural monuments, the law regulates their permanent and temporary export abroad and their sale. The last expansion of the national cultural monuments list occurred more than a year ago, when 15 items were added.

The last proposal for the designation of buildings as monuments deserving the highest possible state protection was approved by the government this January. The Ministry of Culture submitted a proposal for 19 objects, focusing on a specific type of monument with each wave of proposals. This time, it exclusively selected sacred buildings, specifically complexes or sites. In addition to those mentioned, there are two pilgrimage sites in the Liberec Region (in Horní Police and in Hejnice), a pilgrimage complex with the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows in Bohosudov in the Ústí nad Labem Region, Chlum Svaté Maří with the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Mary Magdalene in Sokolov, or Svatý Hostýn in the Kroměříž Region.
