Prague – Homeowners can apply for subsidies from the New Green Savings program starting today, including the subprogram Fix Your Grandma's House. They can receive funds for insulation, photovoltaic systems including water heating, or even the replacement of old non-eco-friendly boilers. In the Fix Your Grandma's House subprogram, there is a property test set, so only households with one property designated for housing will be entitled to support.
Applications are accepted by the State Environmental Fund (SFŽP). Through the Fix Your Grandma's House program, the government will distribute 40 billion crowns among applicants. Starting in January, according to Minister of the Environment Petr Hladík (KDU-ČSL), the program will also provide the option to apply for a favorable loan from building savings banks.
Subsidies from the Fix Your Grandma's House program are paid in advance and support the highest category of comprehensive insulation. The basic support is limited to a maximum of 50 percent of direct execution costs and a maximum of one million crowns; economically active individuals can apply for it. For each dependent child, the household receives a bonus of 50,000 crowns. This benefit also applies to children born until 2030.
In the Fix Your Grandma's House program, the household must not own any other property designated for housing, i.e., an apartment or house. All household members must also have permanent residence in the supported property and use it for housing for ten years from the project's completion. However, this restriction does not apply to children who become independent during this time.
Last Tuesday, after the summer break, the New Green Savings program for apartment buildings reopened for applications. In six days, 119 applications totaling 128 million crowns were received, Hladík reported on Monday. The Czech Republic can draw up to 55 billion crowns from the New Green Savings program until 2030.
