Náchod – The new owner of the dilapidated spa in Náchod - Bělovsi, which has been Priessnitzovy léčebné lázně from Jeseník since last year, plans to start demolishing the most damaged buildings in early February. The company originally planned to begin demolition in May. The demolition, which will be carried out by the company Alprim CZ, is expected to be completed by the end of the year, the town hall announced today. The demolition is expected to be interrupted during the summer. The spa in Bělovsi has been closed since 1996. The city of Náchod is also preparing an investment in the restoration of the spa.

"First, based on the valid demolition permit, buildings with compromised statics, without roofs, that are immediately at risk of collapse will be demolished," said Deputy Mayor Jan Čtvrtečka (ČSSD). The block of operational buildings known as Helena 2 and Ivan, as well as the adjoining garage, will be demolished.

Last December, the city opened a replica of the Komenský villa with a winter mineral water drinking fountain at the site of the so-called Small Spa at a cost of 24 million crowns. This was the first step towards restoring spa services in the city. The Small Spa is located about half a kilometer as the crow flies from the main spa complex. The town hall plans to invest around 120 million crowns in the area, particularly in a new bridge over the Metuje River and in the spa park.

The supply of mineral water to the colonnade of the Small Spa has been secured by the town hall from the Jan and Běla wells, which were drilled on a nearby meadow. The wells of the well-known mineral water Ida are located within the spa complex and are state-owned.

The modern history of the Bělovsi spa began to close in the early 1990s when the state handed it over to two restitution claimants in a dilapidated condition. The private spa did not have enough patients, accumulated significant debt, and ceased operations in 1996. The spa subsequently changed owners, and the city's efforts to acquire the spa ended without success.
