Náchod - The Náchod Town Hall has begun negotiations to withdraw from the contract with the construction company that started building a replica of the Small Spa with a colonnade last November but is struggling to complete the construction. "The company is unable to complete the construction within the established deadline due to capacity reasons," said the town hall spokesperson Nina Adlof today to ČTK.
Simultaneously with the negotiations to withdraw from the contract, experts are securing the construction to prevent winter damage. "If an agreement is reached, we will immediately announce a tender for a new contractor so that work can continue no later than in spring," Adlof said.
According to the town hall, the completion deadline regarding the grant title is not at risk because it was extended to April 2020 at the request of another project partner some time ago. "Our intention, despite the complications that have arisen, is to complete the Small Spa project in the first half of next year, as announced. Everything will depend on the selection of the new contractor," stated Mayor Jan Birke (ČSSD).
Simultaneously with the construction of the Komenský villa (Small Spa) and the accompanying colonnade, a mineral water supply is also being built since August, which will be used to bring mineral water from the Běla and Jan wells to public drinking fountains in the Small Spa. The contractor for these construction works is another firm that is working according to schedule and will finish the construction by the end of November.
The project for the renewal of the Small Spa in Náchod-Běloves is part of the Aqua Mineralis Glacensis project and includes the construction of new connections, the construction of a replica of the original building and spa colonnade with mineral water springs and water features. The spa colonnade will contain three springs, each with four outlets for bottling. A winter drinking fountain and a relaxation area with a decorative water feature are designed near the colonnade. The ground floor of the building will include a café, and an exhibition will be created on the first floor.
The city obtained a certificate from the Ministry of Health regarding the healing properties of the interconnected wells at the turn of last year and this year, and in July this year, the ministry approved the use of natural healing sources from them, and this week the ministerial decision came into legal effect.
The Small Spa is about half a kilometer in a straight line from the main spa complex, which is privately owned and has been closed and deteriorating since 1996. The center of the renewed Small Spa complex will be a replica of the original First Republic Komenský villa.
