<p>12 projects are competing for the Construction of the Year award in the Pardubice Region.</p>

Pardubice - A total of 12 constructions will compete in four categories for victory in the Building of the Year 2006 competition in the Pardubice Region. This is one project more than in the last competition two years ago. This was reported by the region's spokesperson Kateřina Nohavová. The final rankings will be known in the fall.
"Among the submitted works are, for example, the reconstruction of Nádražní Street in Lanškroun, the elementary school in Vysoké Mýto with a sports facility, the reconstruction and extension of the rectory in Žichlínek, or the pavilion for acute medicine at the hospital in Svitavy," said Nohavová. Other proposed constructions include the extension and reconstruction of the District Court in Svitavy, the reconstruction and completion of the Regional Library in Pardubice, a new building for the Stavona plant in Českých Libchavách in Ústeckoorlicko, the reconstruction of the kitchen, the extension of the dining room, changing rooms, and gym at the Nádražní Elementary School in Česká Třebová, an administrative and commercial building in J.M. Marků Square in Lanškroun, the administrative building Spektrum CZ Lanškroun, or the construction of sheltered housing facilities at the Social Care Institute in Žampach.
In the public non-anonymous competition, authors submitted a total of 14 construction applications in the region. One was disqualified for not meeting the conditions, and two others were combined into one project due to similar content. The evaluation committee divided the submitted constructions into four categories, with the most populated being Public Amenities with seven applications and the category of Houses for Living and Family Houses, where three constructions will be evaluated. In the categories of Constructions for Industry, Agriculture and Water Management, and Transport and Engineering Structures, there was only one project each.
The Building of the Year competition is taking place in the Pardubice Region for the second time. In 2004, a total of 11 projects were submitted. The award was won by the authors of the new building of the Headquarters of the Fire Rescue Service of Pardubice Region in the category of public amenities, and among transport and engineering structures, the reconstruction of nám. A. Jiráska in Lanškroun was victorious. A special award was given to the wastewater treatment plant in Přelouč.
