The shopping center in Chodov will expand with a four-story building

Prague - The shopping center in Prague's Chodov will expand with another building. Construction is expected to start in 2020 and will be operational two years later. The building will have a rectangular shape and two underground floors with 348 parking spaces, and four above-ground floors mainly with shops, offices, cafes, restaurants, or warehouses. There will also be a courtyard for deliveries. This follows from the documentation submitted for EIA assessment, which examines the impact of the construction on the environment. The investor is Centrum Chodov.

The building will be located on a plot of land south of the current shopping center, bordered to the west by U Kunratického lesa street, to the south by a polyclinic, and to the east by the existing buildings. The already completed shopping complex will be connected by underground parking and a connecting bridge on the third floor. New greenery will be planted in the surrounding area. According to the materials, the landscaping will cover up to 9,000 square meters.

The first floor is planned to have a cafe, a pedestrian corridor, and shops. The second floor will have shops and warehouses. The third floor will host restaurants, changing rooms, and facilities for employees, with a space illuminated by a courtyard with greenery in the middle. Offices will occupy the fourth floor, which will be so-called set back and will have a terrace for relaxation.

According to the document, construction is scheduled to begin in June 2020 and work will finish in May 2022. The building is expected to gradually begin operations in the same year. Costs are not mentioned in the document.

The most recent section of the center was opened last autumn, when it expanded from 61,000 square meters to more than 100,000 square meters. The owner of the center, Unibail-Rodamco, invested about 4.4 billion crowns in the construction of the new section.
