Brno - The renovation of the Brno Polyclinic Zahradníkova is becoming complicated. The Ministry of Culture has classified the building as a historical monument. This was reported today by the Brno Daily. The reconstruction of the polyclinic is estimated to cost around 100 million crowns. However, classifying the building as a monument would mean increased reconstruction costs. Therefore, the city has appealed against the ministry's decision, said Brno Deputy Mayor Daniel Rychnovský.
Brno councilors approved the postponement of signing contracts with the company Arch.Design, which is preparing the project documentation. According to Rychnovský, the city is waiting for a response from the Ministry of Culture.
In the future, only the upper part of the building will serve healthcare services, while the city plans to sell the lower part. According to the Daily, there are no plans for a significant reduction in healthcare services. The scope of the rehabilitation department will be smaller.
