The organizations Open House Praha and Krenovka invite you to this year's final debate from the series Openly about Prague, which will focus on the topic of adaptation to climate change. We are currently facing a climate change that we have caused through our actions over the past century. We are not yet able to foresee all its consequences, but it is certain that it will fundamentally affect us. Many manifestations we are already experiencing firsthand. Considering that our society is urbanized, it will be vital for us how we will be able to adapt urban life to changing climatic conditions. What is the current plan of Prague to mitigate the impacts of climate change and what steps is it taking to improve the resilience of the city to extreme climatic events, such as floods or heatwaves?
These questions will be addressed in a panel debate that will take place in the spaces of Čítárna Unijazz. Panelists: • Ing. Jana Komrsková – deputy mayor of the capital city of Prague responsible for the environment and climate plan; chairwoman of the Committee for Infrastructure, Technical Equipment, and the Environment of the City Council of Prague • Mgr. Petra Kolínská – director (acting) of the office of Zelený kruh, where she coordinates the project Changing Climate in Legislation for our municipalities and cities; from 2007 to 2014, she worked at the State Environmental Fund • Ing. arch. Anna Vinklářková – expert on the campaign „Prague – a City for Life“ at the organization Arnika; focuses on public information and engagement, the Metropolitan Plan, the future of large brownfields, and problematic decision-making by authorities • RNDr. Michaela Pixová, Ph.D. – teaches, among other places, at the Department of Sociology at FSV UK, as an activist and journalist focusing on urban restructuring, social movements, feminism, environmental crisis, and socio-ecological transformation
