LYSICE (Blanensko) - Heritage conservationists want to repair the colonnade this year, which is the dominant feature of the Renaissance castle in Lysice in the Blanensko region. The restoration of the massive columns, on which the walkway connected to the castle rests, is expected to cost about nine million crowns, said the castle's curator, Martina Medková-Rudolfová, today to ČTK.

The funds for the reconstruction are to be obtained from the Architectural Heritage Rescue Fund of the Ministry of Culture. According to them, the colonnade has been in poor condition for some time, and its repair can no longer be postponed. The massive columns with the walkway give the castle a unique architectural appearance.
The colonnade was created around 1830 when the old garden walkway in the castle garden was transformed into a column structure reminiscent of ancient buildings. At its top, there is a wooden-covered walkway, which can be accessed either from the second floor of the castle or from the adjacent garden. The colonnade offers a picturesque view of the surroundings of the castle. It particularly attracted the owners of the property during inclement weather.
The wooden walkway has cracked paint. All the beams need to be sanded down and repainted. The repair of the columns will also be demanding. "It is necessary to remove the concrete shell that has covered them since the 1970s and create a quality surface," the curator added.
The castle in Lysice was built in the 16th century on the site of a medieval water fortress. The property belonged to many noble families. The last of these was the Dubský family from Třebomyslice, who resided there until 1945. The property attracts about 40,000 visitors annually. Interest in it is increasing.
