Pardubice - In the Pardubice housing estate Dukla, underground garages with a capacity of 278 parking spaces are to be built. The plans of the city district anticipate the completion of construction in the central square in about three years. The transformation of Dukelských hrdinů Square will cost approximately 200 to 250 million crowns, writes today’s Mladá fronta Dnes (MfD) in the regional supplement for Pardubice Region.

With the relocation of cars underground, the semi-ruined concrete area of the square will also change. However, councilors must first secure funding from the European Union. "In ten years, the number of cars in the housing estate has doubled. But a hundred parking spaces in the square is not enough. People park in the side streets, and the whole square filled with cars looks quite sad," said the mayor of the fifth city district, Jaroslav Kňava, to MfD.
Architects have proposed a two-story garage under the square with an entrance from the side Lexova street, where they recommended placing a camera and speed measurement device. "This will prevent excessive noise. The first floor is designed to have a capacity of 136 spaces, and the second floor 142 spaces. Of these, 14 will be for the disabled," stated the architects from the Pardubice studio Rozehnal & Vosmek in their proposal. A similar garage complex already exists in Prague near the Rudolfinum.
