Roztoky (near Prague) - The Science Park in Roztoky near Prague is already in operation. It is the second technology park in the city. Technical innovations, for example in engines, will be researched here. Petra Hollá from the Trigema company's press department, under which the complex falls, informed ČTK about this. The goal of the project is to create a good environment for innovative companies and provide them with services and spaces that enable cooperation between universities, research organizations, and the business sector. The Science Park was put into a one-year trial operation on August 22. In this mode, various measurements, such as acoustic values, will take place, and the park will gradually be equipped with research technologies. However, this does not mean that operations will not be fully functional. “The new park will complement the existing one and will offer many new jobs for qualified workers from Prague and Central Bohemia,” said Marcel Soural, CEO of Trigema, regarding the launch of the project. Employees, of whom there should be more than a hundred, are expected to start in January 2015. According to Soural, the Science Park Roztoky project is even more ambitious than its predecessor and will offer researchers not only light and heavy research laboratories but also administrative facilities, underground parking, and a green rooftop terrace for relaxation. The operation of the building is also expected to be environmentally friendly. It will, for example, utilize heat pumps and daylight to make the building as energy-efficient as possible. There are also automatic sensors ensuring optimal use of outdoor blinds. The construction of the science and technology park in Roztoky is mostly funded by European grants. The costs for building the park exceeded 300 million crowns, and scientists will have research and testing facilities worth more than 50 million crowns at their disposal. They will use them to develop ecological, energy-efficient, and safer engines and their components. Scientists are expected to meet with world experts in various scientific fields in the park, and technological facilities will also be available to companies engaged in engineering. A business incubator is also part of the project. Companies should establish cooperation with universities there. The Science Park will consist of offices, research workplaces, and laboratories in the field of light industry and was established in cooperation with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, the Center for Sustainable Mobility Vehicles, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. The new facility is being built next to the already established science and technology park, whose construction for 450 million crowns was completed two years ago. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University uses the science and technology park together with the business sector. Several other scientific centers are emerging in the Central Bohemian Region. This year, the research center of the Czech Technical University was opened in the former Poldi complex in Kladno. A laser center is being established in Dolní Břežany near Prague, and a biotechnology and biomedicine center is being built in Vestec near Prague.
