Roztoky - The construction of a new school in Roztoky will be completed no earlier than next year, as the city is applying for a European grant. The current school's capacity is insufficient due to the increasing population, and the situation needs to be resolved quickly. The project documentation is under discussion, said the Deputy Mayor of Roztok, Marie Šlancarová (TOP 09).
The city is preparing the school construction in collaboration with the company Trigema, which will build a science and technology park in the Žalov area. Ideally, according to the deputy mayor, the school should be ready in a year and a half, or in the worst case, a year later. It will primarily depend on obtaining the grant.
The capacity of the current school, after a recent expansion, exceeds 700 students, but in the lower grades, there are roughly twice as many children as in the upper grades. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the number of places in the coming years.
The population of Roztok has increased by about one third over the last 15 years to more than 8,000 residents. The city is also addressing the insufficient capacity of kindergartens, and new classes will gradually be added, including in a historic villa that the city hall will have renovated.
