Pec pod Sněžkou (Trutnovsko) - The Town Hall in Pec pod Sněžkou in the Trutnov region plans to build a lookout tower on Hnědý vrch this year. The construction, for which the town hall already has a building permit, is expected to be the tallest lookout tower in the Krkonoš region at 30 meters, said the mayor of Pec pod Sněžkou, Alan Tomášek, to ČTK. "We are preparing documentation to obtain funding from European funds, the deadline is by the end of March. We believe that we could build the lookout tower in the autumn," said Tomášek. The construction of the lookout tower is estimated to cost approximately five million crowns, and according to Tomášek, it is possible to complete the construction in a few weeks. The lookout tower will be built near the upper chairlift station on Hnědý vrch, from its top, tourists will be able to see Sněžka, the center of Pec, and the valley towards Velká Úpa. The Krkonošsko-jesenická National Park Administration (KRNAP) agreed to the construction of the new lookout tower on the condition that the observation deck will be accessible only during the summer season and only during the operation of the chairlift. The tallest existing lookout tower in the Krkonoš region, located on Černá hora, measures 25 meters, while, for example, the stone lookout tower on Mount Žalý measures 18 meters.
