Pardubice - The construction company has completed the demolition work that precedes the construction of a twenty-five-meter swimming pool at the swimming area in Pardubice. They will also soon lay the foundations for the new pool. The swimming area will be closed until September 9 due to routine maintenance, the municipality stated in a press release.

Workers began the work in early July, and it is expected to be completed by around the middle of next year. The extension will be built on pillars, at the height of the second floor of the aquapark. Both buildings will be passable.

"The drilling of the piles will be completed this week, followed by the laying of the foundation slab and subsequently the construction of the monolithic reinforced concrete structure, which will serve as the installation for the new stainless steel pool," said Jaroslav Hruška, head of the property and investment department.

The aquapark is currently undergoing a shutdown for maintenance and will reopen to the public on September 10. The builders will use this time to construct a partition wall that will separate the construction site until the new twenty-five-meter pool is finished.

"I am glad that this agreement was made with the construction company and the partition will be built during the shutdown. I hope that the work will be completed on time, and in September we will be able to start swimming lessons without restrictions," said Jiří Vysoudil, director of the swimming area.

The new twenty-five-meter pool will serve not only athletes but also the swimming school, thereby freeing up space for the public in the fifty-meter pool and aqua zone. The current capacity of the facility is insufficient.

"For capacity reasons, we consider the construction of the pool to be necessary, therefore an amount of 65 million crowns has been allocated from the city budget for the realization of this extension,"
said Deputy Mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO).
