Plzeň - Plzeň is preparing a special sightseeing route featuring buildings designed by the world-renowned architect Adolf Loos. It is set to be available to tourists from 2015 and will include several valuable interiors. The focal point will be the former apartment of Viléma Krause at 10 Bendova Street, which is currently being reconstructed and is expected to open later this year. The route will also include other spaces designed by the famous architect. This was stated by Zuzana Smotlachová, the director of Plzeň - TURISMUS, who is working on the project. "We also want to include Klatovská 110, which is owned by the Plzeň Region, and we are negotiating with the owner of the Brummel family house on Husova Street," she said. The aim is to make the buildings accessible on a regular basis, with two days a week being suggested, though this has not yet been finalized. The interiors should be accessible either separately or through a combined ticket. "So if a tourist buys one ticket, they will be able to visit all of them," she added. According to Petr Marovič, head of the monument care department at the city hall, the collection of Loos's interiors in Plzeň is unique not only for the city and the entire region but is also a European monument. The city has been systematically working on the preparations for the restoration of these valuable interiors since 2003. Currently, the work is being carried out on 10 Bendova, an apartment that according to experts demonstrates Loos's characteristic interior elements, namely maximum emphasis on thoughtful internal layout, rejection of artificial decorativism, and its replacement with high-quality natural materials. Loos's interiors are one of the most important aspects that contribute to the European dimension of the Plzeň - European Capital of Culture project, which the city will become next year. Loos received his first commission in Plzeň in 1907 and worked there, with various breaks, until his death in 1933.
