In Plzeň, on Saturday, April 20, 2013, four unique interiors designed by the world-renowned architect of Czech origin, Adolf Loos, will once again open to the public. The city hall of Plzeň regularly makes them accessible to the public twice a year in the form of a unique guided tour. Adolf Loos realized about thirteen residential interiors in the West Bohemian metropolis, of which only a portion has survived. During the guided tours, visitors will be able to see, for example, an apartment on Bendova Street No. 10 (the apartment of Vilém and Gerda Krauz) with a music salon lined with rare marble, as well as apartments on Klatovská Street 12 (the apartment of MUDr. Josef Vogel) and Klatovská 19 (the apartment of Hugo Semmler). The owner of a private house on Husova Street 58, which is among the best-preserved Loos realizations in Plzeň, will also allow visits. For the second season, the Open House Days of Loos Interiors will be accompanied by a program. This year, the event will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Loos's death with readings from the memoirs of Loos's third wife, Klára Beck, a native of Plzeň, in the apartment at Klatovská 12, where she herself lived for part of her life. The tragic fate of the Jewish families, among which were also the investors of Loos's realizations, is highlighted by the exhibition Shoah – Holocaust of Plzeň Jews at Klatovská 19. Most of the preserved Loos realizations are located on Klatovská Avenue or in its vicinity, making it one of the best addresses in the city at the time. Visitors gradually move from one location to another. Tours at each site start on the hour from 9 AM to 5 PM. Admission is free, but interested parties must reserve the time and spots for tours at the Plzeň City Information Center.
