Plzeň - Plzeň is already preparing constructions in the former barracks and the Světovar brewery, where a technology park focused on modern technologies, robotics, and drones, as well as a city archive, is to be created. Project work for both the archive and the Dronet center is already underway. It is expected to be completed next year, and a tender for the realization will be held, said Deputy Mayor Pavel Šindelář (ODS) to ČTK. The buildings will be designed by spring and are expected to cost around 100 million crowns each. The facilities are to be built in one construction season.

One third of the area will be residential buildings. The first phase has already begun construction this year by the local developer BC Real. "They already have four floors completed. People are expected to move in this autumn," said Šindelář. Světovar is currently one of the largest development areas for housing in Plzeň. The first phase will comprise 72 apartments, which are already sold. According to Irena Vostracká, director of the city’s conception and development department, BC Real is preparing another phase on adjacent plots, which are private and not municipal.

In the Světovar area, the so-called cultural factory of the European Capital of Culture 2015 and an archive were to be built. However, Plzeň failed to draw on European subsidies for the construction, as builders discovered harmful cormodehet in the walls and floors in 2013, which was removed two years ago. In the building, where both the cultural factory and the archive were originally planned, a technology park focusing on robotics and drones will be established after reconstruction.

The building named Bratislava will then be used by the city for the archive, where adjustments and completion will take place. "Documentation for the zoning decision will be completed, as the zoning decision for the cultural factory will be used, and it is essentially just a different use inside," said Vostracká. The remaining buildings in the area currently have no purpose. The city hall intends to gradually modify two villas.

The city will not receive subsidies for the archive, but it intends to seek them for the technology park from the Operational Program Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Competitiveness and from the IROP program for education.
