Brno - In the area under Hády in Brno, a park may be created with areas for various sports activities and relaxation. A competition for its design is being prepared. Last week, Brno's mayor Petr Vokřál (ANO) and students involved in the Students' Brno project agreed on this. This was communicated to ČTK by student ambassador Michal Hořínek.

"The current state after a series of negotiations is such that we have prepared competition conditions concerning a student and more specifically an architectural-landscape competition, in which students should propose the future form of the Hády tailings pond, or Park Hády, which is our intention,"
Hořínek stated. The owner of the land is Teplárny Brno.

The competition proposals should be evaluated by an expert committee at the turn of June and July. This will be followed by a decision on the financing of the project. Hořínek hopes that the landscaping work could begin as early as this autumn.

The idea to improve the neglected area between the Vinohrady and Líšeň housing estates came from Tomáš Viktořík, co-founder of Students' Brno. The planned park is expected to cover 21 hectares, which is one hectare more than the largest park in Brno, Lužánky. What specifically will be created in the park will only be clear after the competition results are announced.

Students also discussed with Vokřál the renovation of the underpass under General Pík's Avenue. "The aim of the project is to revitalize the current underpass under the four-lane road at the Bieblova stop and to generally increase safety in this underpass, including its accessibility," stated Kateřina Gardoňová, spokesperson for the Brno magistrate.

According to Gardoňová, the magistrate will ensure the project documentation to determine the complexity and cost of the project. Students will prepare possible funding options from European subsidies.
