The Institute of Urbanism, together with the Institute of Landscape Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture CTU, invites you to the student scientific conference Architecture Policies 24 – community interests, held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the Faculty of Architecture CTU in lecture hall no. 152.
The fourth conference in the series of Architecture Policies focuses on moving from the general topic of Architecture Policies and the building culture of the Czech Republic to the policies and strategies of architecture and development of individual cities and municipalities in our country.
The purpose of the conference is to continue the debate on the cooperation of professionals in the field of built environment development and local governments, especially in the extreme position of highly attractive areas. The conference will address mapping the field of current research in this area and searching for acceptable ways to resolve conflicts of interest in the territory with the aim of creating a quality built environment and fulfilling specific needs and strategies in the area.
The conference will be divided into three thematic blocks. The first is dedicated to actors in the area, the second to management tools from the perspective of current research, and the third to practical reflection on experiences from selected cities and municipalities in the Czech Republic. Each block of the conference will conclude with a moderated debate on the presented theses. Significant space will be dedicated to a concluding critical summary of the conference in an open debate and subsequent reflection in the proceedings. Among the participants addressed are representatives from institutions such as the Ministry of Regional Development, the Czech Chamber of Architects, the City of Prague, the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, and the Platform for a Healthy Building Law. In the field of research on current topics, university staff, doctoral candidates, and practicing professionals will contribute, while feedback “from the ground” will primarily come from mayors and their municipal architects. You are also invited to join the interdisciplinary debate.
The event has been included in the lifelong education program of the Czech Chamber of Architects and has been awarded 1 point.
