Invitation to the Grand Opening of the Museum of Baroque Sculptures in Chrudim

We would like to invite you to the grand opening of the Museum of Baroque Statues - the reconstruction of the Church of St. Joseph and the cloister gardens in Chrudim, which will take place on September 10, 2011, at 10:00 AM (Školní náměstí, Chrudim)

The listed complex of the Capuchin Monastery, with the dominant building of the Church of St. Joseph, is part of the center of the town of Chrudim. After 50 years of emptiness and devastation, the church is becoming a municipal cultural institution, and its exhibition focusing on rural Baroque sculpture will exceed regional significance. The monastery complex includes gardens, which, through reconstruction, have created a public space functioning as an urban park that offers recreational activities (children's play elements, pétanque, a stage, etc.) as well as a recreational park zone.
The urban solution is based on the effort to integrate new functions of the gallery into the surrounding environment, on one side the urban and busy Školní náměstí and on the other side the peaceful space of the monastery gardens, which, due to their position and area, are a unique calm, green counterpoint to the stony historic center.
