Hradec Králové – This year, 26 buildings will compete for the title of Building of the Year in the Hradec Králové Region. Among the submitted projects are public utility buildings, transport and technical infrastructure, reconstructions, healthcare and social facilities, educational buildings, cultural institutions, and residential buildings. This was reported by representatives of the regional office to ČTK. Buildings that were completed, approved, or put into trial operation from January 1, 2023, to May 31, 2026, could be submitted to the competition.

"Each project will be assessed and evaluated by a professional jury. The awards will be presented to the representatives of the buildings at a ceremonial announcement that will take place in the fall," stated Dan Lechmann, spokesperson for the region.

In this year's 23rd edition, the title of Building of the Year in the Hradec Králové Region is being contested by, for example, the Hospitium with a respite service in Stěžery near Hradec Králové, the new building of Pavilion A of the Jičín Regional Hospital, the modernized hospital in Rychnov nad Kněžnou, and the extension of the seniors' home in Nová Paka in the Jičín region. Among transport constructions, there is a submission for the new Mileta intersection in Hradec Králové, the repair of the White Bridge in Špindlerův Mlýn, or this year's completed cycling circuit around the Rozkoš water reservoir near Česká Skalice in the Náchod region.

The competition is held in cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Czech Chamber of Authorized Engineers and Technicians Active in Construction, the Czech Association of Building Engineers, the Czech Chamber of Architects, and the RSS Hradec Králové Union of Entrepreneurs in Construction.

In the previous – 22nd edition of the competition, the jury assessed 13 buildings. The Building of the Year became the Hnědý vrch Apartments in Pec pod Sněžkou in the Giant Mountains. The restoration of the so-called Polish bridges on the road between Vrchlabí and Špindlerův Mlýn was also awarded.
