Prague - Prague 10 has a new logo and visual identity referencing the Roman numeral X. The spokesperson for the district, Ján Bruno Tropp, informed ČTK in a press release about this. The new logo was selected by the city hall through a competition organized by Czechdesign, in which the graphic studio MadLove succeeded. In recent years, Prague 3 and Prague 6 have also selected new logos.
"For a long time, we lacked a unified visual identity and a clearly recognizable logo that would connect us. The winning design from MadLove addresses this and gives us the opportunity to start building a unique brand. The new style will gradually be reflected in all communication channels, printed materials, and the branding of the city hall," said the mayor of Prague 10, Martin Valovič (ODS).
Until now, the city hall had used the city emblem as its logo, which historically only referred to the Vršovice district. The winning visual identity is based on the Roman numeral X signifying ten, which according to Pavel Mádl from the MadLove studio is a straightforward and recognizable symbol. "We will recognize it even when it takes on various forms and executions. In that, we see the strength of the identity. It encourages creativity and free interpretation. It is not an impersonal, rigid symbol, but a flexible communication language," he stated.
Czechdesign, which was responsible for the competition for the new brand, is an organization focused on the development of design and architecture in the Czech Republic. In recent years, it has also organized competitions for new visual identities for Prague 3 and Prague 6. In the first case, the logo composed of three stripes from the Jakub Vaněk Studio team succeeded, and the city hall of the third district began using it in 2020. The competition for Prague 6 was won in 2022 by the ReDesign studio with a logo in the shape of a shield with rounded bottom corners and the inscription "Prague 6."
