Praha 6 called on the city council to discuss the purchase or exchange of land near Džbán

Prague - The Prague 6 district office has called on the city hall to start negotiations with the landowners near the Džbán swimming pool about their purchase or exchange. At Monday's meeting, the local representatives decided on this. They also approved a negative stance towards any construction in the area surrounding the swimming pool. Last week, the representatives of Prague rejected a proposal to change the zoning plan that would allow the company Molepo to build on the land. Local residents also opposed the construction, having drawn up a petition. Molepo has owned the land since 2012.

The representatives resolved that it is a priority for the district office that the area serves the public. "In cooperation with the capital city, we are therefore ready to negotiate the exchange and purchase of the land. If we were to gain control over the land around the water reservoir, we could work on the revitalization of the area," stated Deputy Mayor Jakub Stárek.

The municipal district would like to develop a sports and recreational area from Džbán. In addition to the possibility of swimming, there would also be other ways to spend leisure time. The area around the reservoir is considered the entrance gate to the Šárecké Valley. According to the current zoning plan, the location is designated exclusively for rest and recreation.

The company wanted to build in the area before as well. However, that plan faced resistance from the residents of Prague 6 and the district leadership. The public has raised objections to construction again now. About 9,000 people signed a petition against the land development.

Molepo acquired the entire area in 2012 for approximately 53 million CZK and was the only participant in the auction of the assets of the liquidated state enterprise Prague Sewerage and Waterways. Jan Čižinský, the leader of Praha Sobě, last week called the previous procedure, which involved some current representatives of ODS, non-standard. He urged the company to transfer the land back to the city at the previous price. Representatives of the company and ODS strongly rejected the criticism of the previous procedure.
