Prague 8 is building the Palmovka center, currently constructing sewage and road

Prague - Prague 8 has started the construction of the Palmovka center, which will house a new city hall and a shopping center. The city hall is currently building sewage systems and a connecting road between Vojenova and Sokolovská streets. Helena Šmídová, a spokesperson for Prague 8, informed ČTK about this. The construction will cost more than one billion.
    "The construction is ongoing - sewer lines and connecting roads between Vojenova and Sokolovská streets are being built. Ground works are continuing," Šmídová told ČTK.
    Workers are also securing the construction pit and starting to build large-diameter piles under the non-basement part of the complex.
    One of the reasons the city hall wants to build a new building is to improve the functioning of the city hall - individual offices of the city hall are located not in one building, but in several at once.
    The construction of the center for more than 1.1 billion crowns was approved by Prague 8 already at the end of summer 2010. The building is expected to cover an area of more than 16,000 m². The construction plan has been criticized in the past, especially by opposition councilors, who called it "megalomaniacal."
