Prague - The Prague City Hall will buy the Rothmayer villa in Břevnov from its current owner. For the building, including period furnishings and the garden, it will pay 12 million crowns. The city council decided this today. After renovations, which could be funded by the state, the villa will be open to the public. The villa of architect Otto Rothmayer dates from 1928 and 1929. Among other things, Rothmayer was involved in modern modifications of the Castle, and the villa carries a similar architectural spirit. “We can say that it belongs to the collection of famous Prague villas,” said councilor Milan Richter (ODS). Among them are the villas of Bílek, Loos, and Trmal. The price for the villa stems from an official estimate. The market value of the building is reportedly much higher. The current owner, the architect's son Jan Rothmayer, is selling the building on the condition that it will be accessible.
