Prague – Prague city councilors approved the sale of 16,500 m² of municipal land on Rohanský Island to a company belonging to the Sekyra Group holding. The company is to pay more than 242 million crowns for the nine plots of land. The developer plans to build the first phase of the Rohan City project on the plots. It is waiting for the building permit to be issued.
On two larger areas sold to it by Prague, the billionaire Luďek Sekyra's company intends to construct two office buildings and three residential buildings along Rohanský embankment. With one exception, Sekyra's company did not previously own any larger plots in the area, but it has a right of first refusal with the capital city. The Prague city council committed to selling the land to Sekyra in 2008.
"We had the land rented; according to the agreement, we applied for the sale after obtaining the zoning decision. We would like to obtain the building permit in the coming months," quotes the server the CEO of Sekyra Group, Leoš Anderle. According to him, the company would like to start construction after this summer's holidays.
The investor is also expected to acquire further plots in the area from Prague, for which they are requesting a zoning decision. In the first phase, Sekyra plans to build more than 200 apartments and two office buildings on Rohanský Island by 2022, with the second phase expected to create around 400 apartments and additional office spaces.
The investor has committed to ensuring that a new park will be located between the two sections and that it will participate in the financing of a school building. According to the municipal urban study, an entire new district is to be developed on the brownfields between Karlín and Libeň, with greenery for recreation along the Vltava River to remain in the back area. There are also plans to build a bridge connecting Karlín with Holešovice.
