Prague - The Prague councilors today approved a proposal to change the zoning plan that prevents the construction of a golf course in Klánovice. According to the amendment, the forest in Klánovice will remain preserved. This was announced by the spokesperson of the city hall, Tereza Králová, in response to a query from ČTK. A dispute has been ongoing for several years regarding the nine-hole golf course. The plan has been opposed by the Klánovice municipal council as well as some local residents.

A private investor, Forest Golf Club Klánovice, is seeking to build the golf course. The project included the construction of a nine-hole course, which would cover an area of approximately 12.87 hectares, including the adjacent buildings. However, the residents were concerned about the planned tree cutting that would precede the construction. In the past, a referendum was held due to this issue, in which the majority rejected the course.
Golfers had obtained permission for an eighteen-hole course in Klánovice back in the 1990s, but it was not built due to a lack of funds.
