Prague – The former golf complex with the building of the former clubhouse in Klánovický forest, which was purchased at auction by the capital city, will be used by the city council for leisure activities for children and youth. CTK was informed about this today by the spokesperson of the city council, Vít Hofman. The former golf clubhouse will continue to operate as a restaurant. The auction of the complex took place on Tuesday, the capital city was the only interested party, and the land area of 26,000 m² with the property was acquired for the starting price of 46.4 million crowns.

"In the future, primarily Prague children will spend their leisure time at the facility during the summer holidays in cooperation with the House of Children and Youth Prague. We will discuss this plan at the coalition level, as well as with the city district," stated Prague's councilor for property Adam Zábranský (Pirates). The city council plans to gently renovate the former clubhouse from the 1930s, even though a court expert assessed the technical condition of the building as very good before the auction. The last reconstruction of the building took place in 2008.

The golf course was built on the land in 1937, during the protectorate it served as a field hospital, and in the 1950s it was discontinued when the communist regime had the area reforested. In 1991, the clubhouse and land were returned to the renewed Golf Club Prague, which sought to restore the golf course, even obtaining a building permit for the construction of 18 holes, but due to a lack of funds, the construction did not take place. The subsequent owners also sought to restore the course, but local residents opposed this in a local referendum, and in 2014 the capital city changed the zoning plan, thus preventing the construction of the course.
