Český Dub (Liberec Region) – During the construction of a central depot in Český Dub, the Liberec Region wants to test a new method of BIM (Building Information Modeling). This will allow for better and more transparent monitoring of the construction and minimize additional costs. As a result, it's about saving public funds, said today ČTK deputy governor Zbyněk Miklík (Pirates). The project's costs are estimated at 200 million crowns, and the region would like to apply for European grants for the construction.
In the Czech Republic, according to Miklík, the use of this method is not very common yet. "Through it, a kind of digital twin of the building will be created. It is a contemporary trend that allows for the elimination of potential errors and shortcomings during the project preparation. Consequently, the project documentation will be more accurate," added the governor's deputy. According to him, from 2022, the use of BIM for above-limit public contracts for construction work financed from public budgets will be mandatory. "Therefore, we want to be prepared," he said.
The depot will be located on a plot of land measuring 6,875 m², which belongs to the company Silnice LK. The project is divided into two phases. The plan includes an energy-efficient building. Thousands of items currently stored in often unsuitable conditions are expected to be relocated there. The depot study for the region was prepared by Adam Rujbr Architects studio. "The project documentation is expected to cost 10.5 million crowns," said Miklík. According to him, the tender for the preparation of the documentation will be preceded by preliminary consultations with specialized companies, which will take place on March 23. The Liberec Region owns several hundred thousand collection items of incalculable historical value, with a market price estimated in the hundreds of millions of crowns. These include small items ranging from postcards to stamps and jewelry, as well as very large assets like historical furniture or various technical equipment. The largest depots are located in Česká Lípa, Kravaře, Sloup in Bohemia, the North Bohemian Museum in Liberec, the Regional Gallery in Liberec, and also in Mníšek, Raspenava, or Jablonec nad Nisou.
